So often we forget the importance of photographs.

Photographs are not only for us to enjoy today, but they are also to be passed down to those who come after us.

Two of my most treasured photographs are of my grandparents. As a child, I only knew them as grey haired, elderly and increasingly frail people. But the photographs showed a boy/man of 17 in military uniform, about to go to war, perhaps never to come back. There was a very attractive young lady all dressed up, full of excitement, and ready to go to her coming out ball. The photographs showed another world and another time.

Allan Powell, TiraMisu’s founder and principal photographer has an eye for those secret, informal moments that capture the essence of a person or a place without intruding upon privacy.  Looking for the unusual, for that subtle change of expression, colour, weather or light, to take the viewer out of the mundane and towards a different perspective.
